ADMIRALTY CONSTABULARY

The Admiralty Civil Police Force, the Royal Marine Police Force and the Royal Marine Police Special Reserve Force were amalgamated and as from Sunday October 2nd 1949 became the Admiralty Constabulary.  Their cap badge was a foul anchor circled by a laurel wreath and surmounted by a crown.

On Wednesday April 1st 1964 the Admiralty, the War Office, and the Air Ministry amalgamated into the Ministry of Defence, bringing the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force under central control.

On Friday October 1st 1971 the Admiralty Constabulary, founded in 1949, merged with the Army Department Constabulary, founded in 1925, and the Air Force Department Constabulary, founded in 1964, to become the Ministry of Defence Police Force.
