TRAMWAYS IN OLD DEVONPORT

TRAMWAY SERVICES IN OLD DEVONPORT

The first tramway service that reached the Borough of Devonport from Plymouth was provided by the Plymouth, Stonehouse and Devonport Tramways Company Limited:

The tramway network in Old Devonport was mainly constructed by the Devonport and District Tramways Company Limited, which operated the following tramway services:

In addition the Company provided Specials in connection with the Royal Dockyard and the Plymouth Argyle Football Club's events at Home Park.

On and as from Monday October 23rd 1916 the Devonport and District Tramways Company's network of routes was amalgamated with those of Plymouth Corporation and physically joined at Peverell Corner and Pennycomequick.  For simplicity and ease of reference, the new through tramway services are dealt with entirely within Tramway Services in Old Plymouth.
